FRESCO
I made the following fresco for an entrance hall. It is made of beech
and its finish is with Danish oil.
Its dimensions are: 198 cms x 66 cms x 3 cms.
It is composed of motifs and designs from Celtic, Vinking, Queyras arts
and my own inspiration. The Celtic rosette in its center alone represents
8 days of work. Its background is sand (pitted by the strike of a sandstone).
A brass hoop is present on the outer circle. The inner circle surrounding
the central cross is dressed with a thin rope.
Immediately on the sides of this rosette, two Viking dragons overlooked by
two swallows and elven interlacing. Four Viking runes are arranged
around the Celtic rosette. They are dressed in shaped brass.
Their backgrounds are sanded. Those of the dragons also.
On the outer sides, two large half-rosettes of my inspiration occupy the
entire height of the panel.
The lower border of the fresco is made up of oak leaves on the edges of
the half-rosettes, two series of inclined lenses; and a curved and sculpted
groove in its center, itself overhung by two rosebuds. The curved groove
underlines the passage of an opening without a door above which is installed
the fresco.
The realization of this work took me 31 days of work excluding sharpening
and other related tasks ….
At the time of writing these lines, it is my most important creation in terms
of sculpture!
